Top 3 Reasons We Love These
1. Filipe Toledo's signature template blends the drive of a more raked fin with enough release and speed to keep performance surfing feeling fast and lively
2. Brilliant when the waves get bigger or more powerful — loads of control and hold through a hard bottom turn without making the board feel dead off the top
3. Performance Core + AirCore construction keeps the fins incredibly light while giving FCS much more control over the flex — a proper high-performance fin set

Product Description
The FCS II FT Filipe Toledo PC Large Surfboard Fins are designed for surfers looking for speed and drive with an extra level of control when you're pushing the board harder. Developed around Filipe Toledo's explosive surfing, the template combines elements of a more raked fin with the versatility of FCS's Performer family.

The result is a fin that gives you excellent drive and control through the bottom turn but still releases when you want to hit the lip. That's the clever bit with the FT — there's plenty of fin underneath you when you're putting serious pressure through your back foot, but it doesn't make a performance shortboard feel overly stiff or slow to redirect.

These sit within the FCS Accelerator fin family, which is all about adding control while maintaining speed, flow and response. They're particularly good when the waves have some push, you're surfing at higher speeds or you're finding a more neutral fin doesn't give you quite enough hold.

FCS recommend the FT for a wide range of conditions, but they really come into their own in critical overhead surf. The additional drive and control allow you to commit to a bottom turn and trust that the fins will hold as you load them up before releasing through the lip.

This Large version is designed for surfers approximately 75-90kg / 165-200lbs and is particularly well suited to performance shortboards with moderate-to-extreme rocker.

Construction is FCS Performance Core with their ultra-light AirCore technology. A pressed polyurethane foam core follows the geometric foil of the fin, reducing the amount of fibreglass required during construction. This cuts weight while allowing FCS to precisely control how the fin flexes from base to tip.

Who Are The Filipe Toledo Large Fins For?
These are primarily aimed at intermediate-to-advanced surfers riding performance shortboards who want more control without sacrificing speed and release.

If you surf with plenty of pressure through your back foot and like to drive hard through bottom turns before redirecting quickly off the top, the FT template makes loads of sense. There's more hold and drive than you'd get from a neutral all-round fin, but it hasn't gone so far towards rake and control that the board becomes difficult to release.

The Large size is recommended for surfers between approximately 75kg and 90kg. Rider weight is only part of the equation though — powerful surfers can benefit from the additional hold of a larger fin, while someone looking for a looser feeling may choose to size down.

They're particularly well suited to proper performance shortboards with moderate or significant rocker. If you're riding something flatter, wider and designed primarily for tiny summer waves, there are other FCS templates that may suit the board better.

Expert Advice
The easiest way we'd describe the Filipe Toledo fin is an all-round performance fin with the control turned up.

When waves get bigger and faster, you need to be able to trust what's underneath your back foot. A fin that's brilliant for making a small beach break board feel loose can suddenly feel sketchy when you're flying through a proper bottom turn in overhead surf.

That's where the FT works really well. The more drawn-out, raked influence gives you drive and something to push against through the bottom turn, but Filipe obviously isn't surfing in a slow, drawn-out style. The template still needs to release quickly and generate speed through fast direction changes, and that's what separates it from a traditional heavily raked fin.

We'd particularly recommend these if you're riding a performance shortboard and find a neutral fin like the Performer a little too forgiving when the waves get good. The FT gives you that extra bit of hold and confidence to push harder.

The AirCore construction is also a genuine performance feature rather than just weight saving. By reducing the amount of fibreglass required through the centre of the fin, FCS can manipulate the flex more precisely while keeping the overall construction exceptionally light.

Q & A

Q: What size surfer are the FCS II Filipe Toledo Large fins designed for?
A: FCS recommend the Large size for surfers weighing approximately 75-90kg / 165-200lbs.

Q: What sort of surfer are these designed for?
A: They're best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers looking for speed, drive and additional control, particularly when riding performance shortboards.

Q: What is the Accelerator fin family?
A: Accelerator is FCS's control-focused family. You still get speed, flow and response, but with additional hold and control compared with a more neutral all-round template.

Q: How do these compare with the FCS Performer?
A: The Performer is the more neutral all-rounder. The Filipe Toledo template takes some of that versatility but adds a more raked influence and greater control. If you want easy all-round performance, look at the Performer. If you want to push harder with more drive and hold, the FT is the more performance-focused choice.

Q: Are these only for big waves?
A: No. FCS recommend them across a wide range of conditions, but the additional control means they become particularly good when the waves are bigger, faster and more critical.

Q: Are they good for overhead surf?
A: Yes — that's one of their strongest applications. The template gives you the drive and hold needed to commit to high-speed bottom turns while retaining enough release for performance surfing off the top.

Q: What surfboards work best with these fins?
A: FCS particularly recommend them for performance shortboards with moderate-to-extreme rocker.

Q: Would they work in a groveller or small-wave board?
A: They can work, but that's not really where we'd choose them first. On a flatter, wider small-wave board we'd normally look towards a fin template specifically designed to complement that style of board.

Q: What is AirCore construction?
A: AirCore uses a pressed polyurethane foam core shaped to mimic the foil of the fin. It reduces the amount of fibreglass required, lowering weight while allowing FCS greater control over the fin's flex characteristics.

Q: Are these lighter than normal Performance Core fins?
A: Yes. The AirCore construction reduces the amount of fibreglass needed through the fin, resulting in a very lightweight performance construction.

Q: Do these provide plenty of drive?
A: Yes. Drive is one of the standout characteristics of the FT template. The more raked influence gives you plenty to push against and helps carry speed through powerful turns.

Q: Will all that hold make my board feel stiff?
A: That's what the design is trying to avoid. You get additional drive and control through the bottom turn while retaining speed and release off the top, giving you control without completely locking the board down.

Q: Will these fit my FCS II surfboard?
A: Yes. These fins are specifically designed for surfboards using the FCS II fin system.
