Top 3 Reasons We Love This
1. 40 litres is a great everyday size — enough room for a wetsuit, towel and accessories without having to carry around a massive kit bag
2. Works brilliantly both ways: keep your dry clothes and kit protected on the way out, then chuck your soaking wetsuit and wet gear inside afterwards and keep the mess contained
3. The removable straps give you loads of options — carry it over one shoulder or set them up as basic backpack straps when you need your hands free, with a dedicated Session Backpack available if you want proper padded straps

Product Description
The C-Skins Session 40L Dry Bag is a really useful everyday waterproof kit bag for surfing, swimming and pretty much any other sport that involves getting wet. It's tough, simple and at 40 litres hits a nice balance between useful capacity and being easy to carry around.

There's enough room for a wetsuit, towel, boots and your smaller session essentials without the bag becoming unnecessarily bulky. That makes the 40L particularly good for summer surfing, open-water swimming, sailing, SUP, kayaking and general beach use.

The waterproof construction and welded seams work in both directions. Before your session, use the Session to keep clothes, towels and other essentials protected from rain, spray and wet ground. Afterwards, throw your wet wetsuit and accessories straight inside and the same waterproof construction helps contain the water, sand and mess on the way home.

The roll-top design gives you a nice big opening, making it much easier to load wet or bulky kit than trying to squeeze everything through a small zip. Once everything's inside, simply roll the top down and secure it.

An elasticated external stash pocket gives you somewhere convenient for smaller bits you want to keep within easy reach rather than losing them at the bottom of the main compartment.

The removable webbing straps are another nice feature. Use them for shoulder carry, configure them as simple backpack straps when you need both hands free, or remove them entirely. There's also a grab handle at the top for quickly moving the bag around.

It's worth knowing that C-Skins also make a dedicated Session Dry Bag Backpack. This standard version can absolutely be carried on your back, but the simple webbing straps aren't designed to offer the same comfort as the proper padded harness on the Backpack version. If you're regularly walking longer distances with a fully loaded bag, we'd choose the Backpack. For shorter trips from the car to the beach, this version does the job perfectly.

Why Choose The 40L?
We think the 40L is probably the better option if you want a compact everyday dry bag rather than something for carrying absolutely everything you own.

There's plenty of room for one person's wetsuit, towel and smaller accessories, but it's still manageable enough to easily throw into the car, carry down to the beach or take onto a boat.

It's particularly well suited to open-water swimming and summer watersports, where you generally aren't carrying loads of thick neoprene. For surfing through the warmer months, you've got plenty of room for your wetsuit, towel and changing kit.

If you're regularly carrying a bulky 5/4 winter wetsuit plus boots, gloves, hood, big towel and changing clothes, we'd probably step up to the 60L. For a normal everyday setup, though, the 40L is a really handy size.

40L or 60L?
The choice really comes down to how much kit you normally carry.

Choose the 40L if you want something more compact for swimming, summer surfing, sailing, paddleboarding or one person's lighter watersports setup.

Choose the 60L if you're regularly carrying thick winter neoprene, lots of changing gear or simply prefer having loads of room so you can throw everything inside without thinking about it.

Remember that wet wetsuits always seem to take up considerably more space than dry ones. If you're right on the fence and primarily surf through winter, we'd probably go 60L.

Dry Kit In, Wet Kit Home
This is where a proper waterproof dry bag makes life much easier.

On the way to the beach, swimming spot or boat, use it to protect your clothes, towel and other essentials from water and poor weather.

Once you've finished, everything reverses. Put your wet wetsuit, swimming kit, boots and accessories straight inside and you've got one waterproof place to contain everything until you get home.

No leaking supermarket bags, no soaking wet towels loose in the boot and considerably less sand spread around the car.

Expert Advice
For a lot of people, 40L is probably all the dry bag you actually need. It's big enough to be genuinely useful but still compact enough that you won't think twice about taking it every time you head to the water.

We particularly like this size for swimming, summer surfing, sailing and SUP. If you're not carrying a huge winter wetsuit setup, there's little point dragging around an enormous bag.

The ability to configure the webbing straps for backpack-style carry is useful too. If you're carrying a surfboard or paddle and need your hands free for a short walk, stick the Session on your back and you're sorted.

Just remember that this isn't the same harness as the dedicated Session Backpack. If you've got a long walk to your surf spot or regularly carry a heavy load, we'd choose that version instead. The proper padded straps will be considerably more comfortable.

If most of your journeys are car to beach, car to swimming spot or around a sailing club, we'd be perfectly happy with this standard 40L Session.

Q & A

Q: How big is the C-Skins Session 40L?
A: It has a 40-litre capacity and measures approximately 72cm high when fully unrolled, 55cm when rolled closed and 29.5cm in diameter.

Q: What is the 40L size best for?
A: We'd recommend it for one person's everyday watersports setup, particularly swimming, summer surfing, SUP, kayaking and sailing.

Q: Can I fit a wetsuit inside?
A: Yes. There's plenty of room for a wetsuit, towel and smaller accessories. If you're carrying a bulky winter wetsuit plus boots, gloves, hood and lots of changing gear, we'd consider the 60L.

Q: Is the Session Dry Bag waterproof?
A: Yes. C-Skins describe it as waterproof and completely submersible when correctly closed, with welded waterproof seams.

Q: Can I put a soaking wetsuit straight inside?
A: Absolutely. That's one of its main uses. The waterproof construction helps keep your dry kit protected beforehand and then helps contain wet gear afterwards.

Q: Is this the Session Backpack?
A: No. This is the standard Session Dry Bag with removable webbing straps. C-Skins also make a dedicated Session Backpack with proper padded and adjustable shoulder straps.

Q: Can I still wear this one as a backpack?
A: Yes. The webbing straps can be configured for basic backpack-style carry. They're useful for shorter distances, but the dedicated Backpack version is more comfortable if you'll be carrying the bag on your back regularly.

Q: Can the straps be removed?
A: Yes. The webbing straps are removable, so you can take them off completely when you don't need them.

Q: Should I choose the 40L or 60L?
A: We'd choose the 40L for lighter everyday kit, swimming and summer watersports. Go for the 60L if you carry bulky winter wetsuits, lots of accessories or simply want plenty of spare room.

Q: Does it have any external storage?
A: Yes. There's an elasticated stash pocket for smaller items you want to keep within easy reach.

Q: Is it good for open-water swimming?
A: Brilliant. It's a really useful size for carrying a towel, clothes and swimming essentials while keeping everything together and protected around the water.

Q: Is it good for surfing?
A: Yes. The 40L is particularly good for summer surfing and lighter setups. For a full winter surf kit we'd lean towards the larger 60L.

Q: Is it suitable for sailing and boating?
A: Definitely. Its waterproof construction, manageable size and multiple carry options make it a great bag for sailing and boat trips.

Q: Is it easy to clean?
A: Yes. The tough outer material is designed to be wipe clean, which is exactly what you want around sandy beaches, muddy launch spots and wet changing areas.
