The C-Skins Session 12L Dry Bag is the smallest, most compact option in the Session range. This isn't the bag we'd choose for carrying a wetsuit, big towel and all your changing gear — 12 litres simply isn't designed for bulky kit.

Instead, think of it as your waterproof essentials bag. It's ideal for your phone, wallet, keys, snacks, a small towel, lightweight clothing or anything else you want to keep protected while you're around the water.

That makes the 12L particularly useful for SUP, kayaking, sailing and boat trips. It's small enough to easily take with you without dominating the available space, while still giving you a useful waterproof place for the things you don't want getting soaked.

The waterproof construction uses welded seams to help keep water out, while the roll-top closure is simple and quick to use. The tough material is puncture resistant and wipe clean, so it's designed to cope with beaches, boats, wet changing areas and general outdoor use.

There's also an elasticated external stash pocket for smaller bits you want within easy reach rather than buried inside the main compartment.

What Will Actually Fit In 12 Litres?
It's worth being realistic here — 12L isn't a big bag. If you're expecting to throw in a wetsuit, full-size towel, shoes and changing clothes, this isn't the size to buy.

It's much better suited to things like your phone, wallet, keys, sun cream, snacks, water bottle, lightweight spare layer and a small or packable towel. Exactly how much fits will obviously depend on how bulky your individual kit is.

For swimming, we'd use it for the essentials rather than a complete changing setup. For SUP or kayaking, however, that compact capacity can actually be an advantage because it doesn't take up loads of space on the board or in the boat.

Choosing the right size really depends on what you're trying to carry.

Perfect For SUP, Kayaking & Sailing
Where the 12L really makes sense is when you're actually taking the bag onto the water with you.

On a paddleboard you don't necessarily want a huge 40L bag strapped to the deck just to carry your phone, keys and a spare layer. The smaller Session gives you enough room for the important stuff while keeping your setup much neater.

The same applies to kayaking and sailing. Space is often at a premium, so a compact waterproof bag that can be tucked away or secured onboard is often more useful than something much larger.

Expert Advice
We'd buy the 12L with a very different job in mind to the bigger Session bags. This is your essentials dry bag, not your wetsuit kit bag.

If we're heading out on a SUP or kayak, 12 litres is actually a really nice size. There's enough room for the bits we genuinely want with us without having a huge bag strapped to the board.

For open-water swimming, it can work well for valuables and smaller essentials, but if you're hoping to get your towel, clothes and wet swimming gear all inside afterwards we'd probably move up to the 20L or 30L.

And for surfing, we'd generally go bigger again if you want the wetsuit inside. A wet wetsuit is bulky, awkward and always seems to take up twice as much room when you're standing in a freezing car park trying to pack it away.

Buy the 12L because you want something small, waterproof and easy to take anywhere, rather than because you're trying to cram a full day's kit into the smallest possible bag.
