The Surflogic 3.65m Roof Rack Tie Down Straps are a simple, dependable way of securing surfboards, paddleboards, kayaks and other watersports equipment to roof bars and roof racks.

At 3.65 metres / approximately 12ft long, they're a great general-purpose size. There's plenty of length for securing a stack of surfboards, while they'll also work with many SUP and kayak setups depending on the width of your vehicle, roof bars and the equipment you're carrying.

One feature we particularly like is the soft protective cuff around the cam buckle. Metal buckles and cars aren't the best combination, particularly when you're throwing a strap over the roof in a windy car park. The protective cover gives you an extra layer between the buckle and your paintwork, as well as helping protect your boards from accidental knocks.

The cam-buckle system is quick and straightforward to use. Feed the webbing through the buckle, pull it tight and you're ready to go. There's no complicated ratchet mechanism and, importantly for surfboards, you're in control of how much pressure you're applying.

How Many Surfboards Will 3.65m Straps Carry?
For surfboards, 3.65m / 12ft is a really versatile length. For a normal car and roof-bar setup, we'd expect these to comfortably handle one board or a small stack of boards.

As a general guide, 1 to 3 normal surfboards should be straightforward on most vehicles. A larger stack may also be possible, but this depends heavily on the width and thickness of the boards, how they're stacked and the width and height of your vehicle.

Three shortboards obviously take up considerably less strap than three chunky longboards or foam boards, so don't treat board numbers as an absolute measurement.

If you regularly carry a large stack of boards, particularly thick foamies or longboards, we'd move up to a longer strap rather than relying on the 3.65m having enough spare length.

Will They Fit A Kayak?

The soft cuff around the buckle helps reduce the chance of damaging your paintwork if you get it wrong. It also provides some protection if the buckle comes into contact with your surfboard while you're tightening everything down.

We'd still recommend taking a little care when throwing the straps over the car, but the protective cover gives you a useful extra margin for error.
